Prasa gets R4bn for rolling stock, R1bn for depots, signalling

The South African government will inject an additional R4-billion over the coming three years into the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa), which operates the Metrorail network in a number of cities. The capital will enable the State-owned company to begin purchasing new coaches. In addition, the agency will receive a further R1-billion to build three depots and upgrade signalling in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
